Tampa Catholic is proud to shine a spotlight on alumnus Luis “Louie” Aguila, Class of 2006. A dedicated public servant and experienced attorney, Louie is continuing his lifelong commitment to justice and community service as he runs for Circuit Court Judge in the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit, Group Seven.
Born and raised in Tampa, Louie’s roots in the community run deep. He attended St. Lawrence Catholic School before graduating from TC in 2006. A talented athlete, Louie played collegiate baseball at Florida College while earning his Associate of Arts degree, then transferred to the University of South Florida, where he completed his bachelor’s degree in Criminology. It was there that he discovered his true calling—pursuing justice in the courtroom.
After earning his Juris Doctorate from Barry University School of Law, Louie began his legal career in 2014 with the Hillsborough County State Attorney’s Office. For eight years, he served as an Assistant State Attorney, working alongside law enforcement to prosecute thousands of cases, including those involving domestic violence, child abuse, sexual violence, drug trafficking, and homicide.
Today, Louie continues his service as a Statewide Prosecutor with the Florida Attorney General’s Office. In this role, he handles complex, multi-county cases and is a member of the Cold Case Unit, helping bring justice and closure to families in long-unsolved homicide and missing persons cases.
Louie’s dedication to his community extends far beyond his professional life. He serves on the board of RISE Tampa, a police foundation supporting the Tampa Police Department, and is a member of the Cold Case Commission for the State of Florida. He also coaches his daughters’ softball team and actively participates in organizations including the Hillsborough County Bar Association, Tampa Tiger Bay Club, and The Italian Club of Tampa.
Family and faith remain central to Louie’s life. He and his wife are proud parents of two daughters and parishioners at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church.
Looking back, Louie credits Tampa Catholic with preparing him for both college and his career.
“My time at Tampa Catholic was truly formative, and I am deeply grateful for the exceptional faculty who prepared me for both college and my professional career. One educator who made a lasting impact was Brother Burns, through his speech class. He consistently emphasized the importance of speaking with confidence and maintaining eye contact to effectively engage an audience. To this day, I continue to apply Brother Burns’ techniques in the courtroom—a testament to the lasting value of his teaching.”
We celebrate Louie Aguila ’03 for his ongoing dedication to justice, his service to the Tampa Bay community, and the foundation he built here at Tampa Catholic. His journey is a reminder of the lasting impact of a TC education and the many paths our graduates take in service to others.
