Journalism

Over the past 60 years, Tampa Catholic’s journalism programs have evolved. From a newspaper and literary magazine to a morning show and yearbook, students are active in contributing to the legacy and memories made at Tampa Catholic. With the addition of the Bellini Center for the Arts, students will continue to excel in journalistic pursuits. With options in Broadcast and Print Journalism, students are able to attain new skills and leave a lasting impact on Tampa Catholic.

Organizations

Tampa Catholic is proud to have begun its chapter of Quill and Scroll, the International Honorary Society for High School Journalists, in 1974. The honor society recognizes excellence and achievement in journalism and scholastic publication. Quill and Scroll works to honor the achievements of students in our journalism program.

In Journalism 5 & 6 Honors, students work together to encapsulate our school year through photography, interviews, and graphic design. The Journalism 5 & 6 Honors courses, work together to create the yearly volume of The Crusader. Students are able to gain great communication skills, excel in photography and graphic design, as well as grow in leadership through these courses. It is through these courses that we are able to see the evolution of Tampa Catholic.
In Broadcast 1 & 2 Honors, students work to produce content for the student body on a weekly basis. Students learn to manage projects and time, edit videos, and produce video content. This student-led production is something that encapsulates the spirit of Tampa Catholic and the excellence in which our students strive for.
