Rosalyn Rodriguez is a native Tampan who grew up in West Tampa, attending St. Joseph School before coming to Tampa Catholic where she graduated in 1973. After attending Florida State University for a year, she came back to Tampa in 1974 when the first women were being hired as deputy sheriffs at the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. Rodriguez was one of the first females to attend the police academy and worked in the Communications section until women were allowed to be on patrol. She spent most of her 30 year career in the Major Crimes Unit as a detective but worked in Special Operations, Community Relations and Intelligence. After retirement, she worked as a private investigator until she came back to her roots at Tampa Catholic as the Director of Alumni Relations, a position she proudly held for 10 years. Now she has truly come full circle becoming the School Safety Officer at TC. Her duties will be to bring an added layer of security and prevention to TC and she has already connected with Tampa Police and Hillsborough County School security to receive information and training.
