Aug 18 As the 2016-2017 school year begins and new families join the TC family, a great way for parents to meet other TC parents is to get involved in the Mothers' or Dads' Club. Both are starting the school year with new leadership and expanded reaches. Mothers' Club - The Mothers' Club, formerly the Crusader Parent Club, has renamed itself and announces new leadership for the 2016-17 year. Kathy Mudano '76, P'09, '10, '19 has assumed the President's role and Jina Masters '95, P'19 is Vice President. Leadership for the club is rounded out with Lisa Rodriguez '86, P'15, '19 as Secretary, Tayra Paul P'19 as Treasurer, Lisa Hopkins P'16, '17 as VP Hospitality and Grace Berro P'19 as VP of Volunteers and Angel Prayer Network administrator. The club which has always provided critical volunteer support for school events is expanding its activities to include additional opportunities for social activities and a weekly Rosary group. "We take to heart Principal Lees' call to 'Build Community' and look forward to adding on the great foundation provided by our predecessors in the Crusader Parent Club. We thank them all for their dedication and service to TC," says the new president. "We have a great year ahead for all of Tampa Catholic, students, alumni and parents alike." Immediately the club is looking for mothers to chair or co-chair one of the many events that they host during the school year. This is a great way to make new friends and quickly satisfy your Parent Service Hours requirement. More information about the Mothers' Club and links to upcoming social and volunteer activities can be found at the Mothers' Club page on the TC web site. The Mothers' Club email is Mothersclub@tampacatholic.org. The Dads' Club is relatively new. It was started three years ago by Roland Chacon '81, P'16, '18 and a group of dedicated dads. They wanted to support the school and provide an opportunity for the dads to gather socially from time to time. They have helped with parking at athletic events, laid the floor covering for non-sports events in the gym and made themselves available for any other needs of the school. One of their biggest tasks was to take over the hosting of the annual DiMaggio Classic golf tournament, whose proceeds exclusively benefit the Crusader athletic programs. The Dads' Club made an immediate impact on the tournament, selling out the tournament and boosting revenues from $20,000 to over $30,000 in their first year. They continue to host this event, which is set for Monday, October 3, 2016. Registration is open and can be found at the DiMaggio Classic web page. The club is led in 2016-2017 by incoming President Matt Mudano '76, P'09, '10,'19 and Vice President Chris Redhead P'18. They have set a goal to continue the successes of the last three years and add monthly meetings with guest speakers at each meeting and on a dad/student bowling outing in the 3rd quarter. Their next event is a tailgate cookout before the first home football game on Friday, September 2, when TC plays Admiral Farragut Academy. Watch your email for more information. Contact the Dads' Club at DadsClub@tampacatholic.org if you are interested in helping. More information on the Dads' Club, meeting schedules and other news can be found at the Dads' Club web page on the TC web site.
