Sep 15 Tampa Catholic is proud to announce that three of its students have been honored for their exceptional achievement on the National Merit test. The National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships. Last year, more than 1.6 million members of the class of 2017 took the first step in the National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the PSAT. Seniors Daniel Morejon and Steven Richards were named Semifinalist in the 2017 National Merit Scholarship Program. They are two of 1,600 - less than 1% - high school seniors in the US that are named Semifinalists. Tampa Catholic wishes them the best as they go on for consideration to become a finalist. Senior Julia Engebretson has been recognized as a National Merit Commended Scholar for her outstanding achievement on the PSAT. Her achievement comes based on her scoring in the top 5% of more than one million students nationally who took the qualifying test. Commended Scholars have demonstrated outstanding academic potential by their strong performance on the PSAT.
