May 10 Deacon Kevin Yarnell, and soon to be called Father Yarnell, after his ordination to the priesthood on May 21st, will be the main celebrant at our upcoming Baccalaureate Mass at St. Timothy’s Church on May 23rd. This Mass is the final time the entire senior class will gather to celebrate Mass together. It is only fitting to have Fr. Yarnell as our celebrant at this Mass since he has a 28 year relationship with TC. Deacon Kevin Yarnell was born in Pennsylvania and, while in the 4th grade, moved to Florida where he attended a Methodist Church and actively participated in their youth program. Following high school Kevin attended Florida Southern College where he earned his BS in Physics and Mathematics. He later received his master’s degree from Shenandoah University in computer education. Kevin worked at Tampa Catholic for 28 years teaching computer, physics, and math courses and serving as the school’s technology director. His spiritual journey from Methodism to Catholicism and on to seminary consisted of many small steps in which he felt God’s direction. Kevin recently completed his five year formation at Pope Saint John XXIII National Seminary located near Boston. In his spare time, Kevin enjoys long distance bicycling, hiking, and golf. He has been assigned by Bishop Robert Lynch to Saint Timothy’s Parish in Lutz, Florida. We wish him God’s choicest blessings in his new ministry.Mr. Yarnell spent many years building memories with our students. Here he helps explain the new computers of the time on grandparents day and is shown in both photos roughly around 1986.
