#ACT36 TC Junior Gets Highest Possible Composite ACT Score

JFelletter_web_ACT36.jpgIn addition to sports being a big part of high school life, achievement and education are equally significant when it comes to high school. Meet John Felletter, who recently earned the highest possible ACT composite score of 36. John is also a student-athlete, playing on the lacrosse team for three years now and trying his hand at swimming too.

To put this into perspective, less than one-tenth of 1 percent (.01%) of students who take the ACT earn a top score. In the U.S. high school graduating class of 2016, only 2,235 out of nearly 2.1 million graduates who took the ACT earned a composite score of 36.

The ACT consists of tests in English, mathematics, reading and science, each scored on a scale of 1–36. A student's composite score is the average of the four test scores. Some students also take the optional ACT writing test, but the score for that test is reported separately and is not included within the ACT composite score.

In a letter to John recognizing this exceptional achievement, ACT Chief Executive Officer Marten Roorda stated, “Your achievement on the ACT is significant and rare. While test scores are just one of multiple criteria that most colleges consider when making admission decisions, your exceptional ACT composite score should prove helpful as you pursue your education and career goals.”

John’s extraordinary accomplishment has put him into the local spotlight with news interviews and articles from The Patch.com, CBS News 10 and BayNews9. It is quite a significant achievement. And we are very proud of him as Tampa Catholic Crusaders and want him to know that his hard work academically is so very important to all of us.

You can catch John's interviews running this week on several stations including CBS Channel 10 News and BayNews9.
