Winding Down of Fall Sports

GOLF REGIONALS: Two of our golfers have qualified for the regional golf tournaments next week.  Sr. Lindsey Gonzalez will compete next Wed. at Cleveland Heights in Lakeland and Soph. Dylan Sanchez will play Mon. at Carrollwood Country Club.  Congratulations to both golfers and best of luck next week.

FOOTBALL: Unbelievable as it may have seemed but our football team had their 2nd game this year cancelled due to hurricanes.  Hurricane Matthew caused last week’s game to be cancelled.  The team is back in action tonight against West Oaks out for the Orlando area. There are only 2 home games left so if you’re reading this in time come on out to the game this evening.  The team has been playing some very good football.

SWIM: The swim team had their last regular season meet last night.  The districts are scheduled for Oct. 27 at Berkeley.

VOLLEYBALL: Our volleyball team will be hosting Cardinal Mooney in the first round of the district tournament on Mon.  at 7:00.  By virtue of our win on Wed. we get to host Mooney.  The semifinals of the district will be next Tuesday at Mooney with the championship match next Thursday, also at Mooney.

CROSS COUNTRY: Our cross country team will be running in the district race next Thurs., Oct. 20 at Al Lopez Park.

CREW: Our rowing team will be rowing tomorrow morning on the Hillsborough River against some of the other local teams.  They have set it up as a scrimmage.

I will be heading to Stillwater, Oklahoma later next week so there might not be a blog.  Not only will I get a chance to see my son Thomas at Oklahoma State and watch a couple of his practices but I also will be attending a basketball clinic on Saturday hosted by the Oklahoma State coaches.  I always enjoy attending clinics.  It’s a great way to pick up new ideas and strategies that I can bring back with me to help the Crusaders.  You’re never too old to learn new things.

I hope to see you at the football game tonight.  It’s a 7:00 start.  Thanks for all of the support.
