Welcome Back Crusaders

I hope all of you had a great summer and are ready for a fantastic 2016-17 school year.  I know many of you are like me who have to work through the summer, but I hope you were able to get a vacation in there somewhere or at least get in some time with your family.  It was a great summer for me as my oldest daughter and TC graduate, Annie, got married in St. Augustine in July.  It was a great wedding and I, like most parents, are happy when their children are happy, and I can tell you that my daughter is very happy.  Besides the great event that took place in my family we have a couple of TC athletes that had extraordinary summers.

Our state champion swimmer competed this summer in the Olympic trials.  Christin is a junior and even though she did not make the Olympic team she was outstanding.  She competed for the team in 4 events and had some of the best times of any of the high school swimmers that were invited.  When you watch the Olympic swimming competition on TV over the next couple of weeks, you won’t see Christin in Rio, but the possibility of her being on the team for the 2020 Olympics is very much within her capabilities.  She is certainly going to be one of the hopefuls for 2020.  Let’s enjoy what she does in the pool while here at TC.  We are extremely proud of her.

Kevin, a senior on our basketball team, also had a summer that I’m sure he will not soon forget.  Kevin made our National 17U team and represented the USA in the FIBA World Championships in Spain, were he and team brought home the Gold medal as world champions.  The USA defeated Turkey in the championship game and went 5-0 in the tournament.  This is the 2nd gold medal for Kevin as he was on the 16U national team that won gold last summer in Argentina.   Kevin was also invited to participate in the Nike Skills Academy and Adidas Nations, 2 events held in California for the top players in the country.  Let’s enjoy his senior season here at TC.  All of us are very proud of what Kevin has done.

Many of our other student-athletes have worked very hard over the summer months perfecting their skills.  We are hoping for a great 2016-17 school year.  Remember we are all a part of developing our student-athletes into the best they can be; on the field of play, in the classroom, and in the community.  I hope to see many of you at our events this year.  Thank you in advance for all of your support.  I’m sure it will be great.
