As we prepare for the 2018-19 school year we wish to announce that Tampa Catholic High School will be making a significant technology change beginning in the 2018-19 school year. We will be moving to the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) in August. Canvas will be replacing our use of Edmodo. Canvas LMS is a software-based platform that provides the framework and tools to facilitate technology integration both on and off campus.
Canvas bundles assessments, grading, state standards, messaging, learning data, calendar (school and course), and notifications while keeping everything simple, easy, and in one place. Canvas also seamlessly integrates with other educational apps. Canvas was chosen as the Tampa Catholic High School LMS after intensive research of various systems. Canvas is also the preferred LMS of numerous colleges and universities in the state of Florida and throughout the country, helping our students better prepare for how colleges/universities deliver course content. Canvas will help our teachers and students to better integrate technology and will allow us more efficient and effective use within our existing 1:1 iPad program.
For parents, Canvas will be the new source for grade access throughout the semester. Instructions for accessing grades will be sent separately. Please note that this is a change from accessing grades from the Rediker portal. Families will only need to access Rediker at the end of each semester as final grades, GPA updates and report cards will still be housed in the Rediker platform. Students will be introduced to Canvas on their first day of school. For more information about Canvas, please click this link.
