TC Pet Owners Seek Blessings for Furry Friends

On Thursday, October 4th, our TC Campus Ministry Team once again hosted the annual “Blessing of the Pets”, as a crowd of 150 parents and students mingled with their beloved furry friends. Father Bruce SDB intoned the opening words of the prayer service, “The Lord is with you”, above the whines, pants, barks and embarrassed whispers of "sit," "stay," and "good boy."

Deanna Gonzalez, a student member of the Campus Ministry Team, proclaimed the reading from the book of Genesis: “God made the wild animals of the earth of every kind, and everything that creeps upon the ground of every kind. And God saw that it was good.” Following the readings and prayers, Father Bruce SDB and Brother Burns CFC began blessing the well-behaved pets. The winning pets in the 3 categories were: “Friendliest Pet” Alejandro Caribas’ golden retriever, “Most Exotic Pet” Matthew Shulstad’s ball python snake, and “Cutest Pet” Ms. Woelfer’s Australian shepherd dog.

At the conclusion of the service, refreshments were served, certificates were distributed, and the guests proudly posed for pictures with their pets.
