Pope Paul the Sixth once said: “In youth the days are short and the years are long. In old age the years are short and days are long.”
On Saturday evening, March 16th, 40 TC Campus Ministers descended on Concordia Village of Tampa (formerly John Knox Village) to celebrate Saint Paddy’s Day with 150 senior citizens, to liven up their long days.
DJ Jack Carney, retired TC social studies teacher 1966-2003, played lively Irish tunes, as young and old danced the night away. Numerous door prizes were raffled off, to the delight of the winners. Guest soloist Maddie Soriano ‘20 brought tears to the eyes of the residents with her musical rendition of “Danny Boy”. Most importantly, the TC students went one-on-one with the senior citizens, engaging them in lively conversation and putting smiles on everyone’s faces.
TC faculty members, past and present (Br. Burns, Br. Sanpietro, Mr. Carney (’66-’03), and Mr. Shemroske (’91-’09) accompanied the students, and a good time was had by young and old alike.
