State Track, Battle of the Beasts, Spring Football & more

STATE TRACK: Good luck today to 3 of our track student athletes that are competing in the state 2A track meet at IMG Academy in Bradenton.  Leon Bright finished 4th in the regional shot put, Zac Couture finished 2nd in the discus, and Rachel Hagans finished 1st in the long jump, and 2nd in both the 100m and 200m to all qualify for the state meet.  I’m sure they will represent us well.

BASEBALL: It was a heartbreaking loss for our baseball team in Tuesday’s regional final game.  We were one strike away from advancing to the state tournament, but Berkeley scored 4 runs with 2 outs in the top of the 7th inning to come from an 8-6 deficit to a 10-8 lead and held us scoreless in the bottom of the 7th to win 10-8.  Our team fought hard and made all of us proud.  This is the 2nd year in a row that we have suffered gut wrenching losses in the regional final.  Perhaps the 3rd year will be a charm for us and we will knock down that regional final wall.  Let’s congratulate the team and coaches on a great run through the playoffs.

FOOTBALL: Our football team has been working hard during their spring practices.  Spring practice will culminate with our spring game that will be here at Crusader Stadium on Friday, May 20th at 7:00.  Our opponent for the game will be River Ridge.

BASKETBALL: The “Battle of the Beast” state all-star basketball game will be held this Saturday at TC.  3 pt. shooting contest, slam dunk contest, and game featuring some of the top seniors in the state of Florida BattleBeasts_screenshot2016.pngwill take place in The Castle.  All activities start at 6:00.  Come out to see TC senior and Oklahoma State commit Thomas Dziagwa participate in the 3 pt. contest and game.  Milwaukee Buck and NBA star John Henson will be a judge in the slam dunk contest.  Word on the street is that Jameis Winston will also be in the house.  Come out to see some great basketball.
