The boys’ basketball team made a monumental run for a state championship only to fall one game short. The team lost in the state championship game last Saturday in the Lakeland Center to Ft. Lauderdale Calvary Christian. In the semifinal game last Wed. the team had a great win over the Villages HS to move into the championship, but it just wasn’t meant to be and the team walked out as the state runner-up. It was a magical season for the team as they finished 25-6. The team won the City of Tampa Championship, the district title, and the regional title, all for the 2nd consecutive season. Saturday’s game was the final game for 3 outstanding seniors, Nick Giorgi, Bentlee Sanders, and Kevin Knox. Knox leaves as not only the all-time leading scorer in TC history but the all-time leading scorer in Hillsborough County. He finishes his career with 2731 points. You will be able to watch him play in the McDonald’s All American game, the Nike Hoop Summit, and the Jordan Brand Classic. The team thanks all those of you who made the season so memorable.
SOFTBALL: Our softball team has a big game tonight at the Academy of Holy Names at 6:30. Plan to attend as this will be a great game. Both teams are battling for the district lead. TC is ranked as one of the top teams in the Tampa Bay area.
BASEBALL: Baseball also has a big district game tonight as they travel to Berkeley Prep for a 7:00 game. Both of these teams have contended for the district title the last couple of years and this year will probably be no different.
TRACK: Also at Berkeley tonight you can venture over to the track and watch our team compete in a track meet. The meet starts at 5:00 so you can watch some track and then head over to the baseball field for the baseball game. That is, of course, if you’re not down at the Academy for the softball game.
TENNIS: Next Tuesday our boys’ and girls’ tennis teams will be in action at the HCC courts. Their opponent will be Carrollwood Country Day. If you’ve never been to a tennis match this would be a good one for you to attend. The match starts at 4:00.
CREW: Last week at the Plant Regatta Junior Jack Muller finished first in the Junior Men’s single event in the 1500 meters. Also last month Isabel Hauber was named the female student/athlete of the month.
CRUSADERETTES: Our Crusaderette dance team travels to the Orlando area this weekend for the Southeast regional competition. Good luck to all of our dancers.
LACROSSE: Our women’s lacrosse team, coming off a win on Wednesday over Jefferson is travelling to Sarasota today to play Cardinal Mooney. Boys’ lacrosse is not in action again until Tuesday when they will be travelling to Bradenton to play Out-of-Door Academy. They are also coming off a win on Wed. against Jefferson.
As you can see we have a lot of events going on this spring. Thank you to all of you that have or will be volunteering to work the gate and concession stand at these events. We couldn’t do it without you. Remember we are all a part of helping to develop champions on the field of play, in the classroom, and in the community. GO TC!!
