Spring Sport Updates & Basketball Honors

Here’s an update on several of our spring teams.

BASEBALL: Our baseball team will be playing in the district championship game this evening at Berkeley Prep against Berkeley.  Game time is set for 7:30.  The team defeated Brooks DeBartolo in the district quarterfinals on Tuesday and Calvary Christian in the semifinals on Wednesday.  Both the district winner and runner-up will be advancing to the regionals next week Thursday.  If we win tonight, we will host next week and if we lose tonight we will be on the road next Thurs.  Come out tonight to support our team.

SOFTBALL: Our softball team played last night in the regional semifinal at Montverde Academy.  I do not have that result as I am writing this on Thursday.  If we won last night we will advance to the regional finals on Tuesday, April 26.

TRACK: Our track team, pictured here, participated in the district meet at Berkeley Prep yesterday.  Hopefully many of our track athletes will have advanced to the regional meet next week.

CREW: Our next crew regatta is scheduled for April 30-May 1 in Sarasota.

BASKETBALL: Although basketball season is long over the awards continue to come in.  I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that one of our players Kevin Knox has been selected as the top junior player in the entire country by MaxPreps.  Kevin earlier was selected as the 4A Player of the Year in the state and now he is recognized as the top junior in the country.  It is quite an honor for him, our team, and Tampa Catholic.  Please congratulate Kevin if you see him.

As always I thank you for your support.  I hope to see many of you at the baseball game tonight.  We are all a part of Tampa Catholic and through all of our efforts our student/athletes continue to develop into champions on the field, in the classroom, and in the community.  GO CRUSADERS!
