Results: Southern Sprints Indoor Rowing Championships

Saturday, January 28th, Tampa Catholic's Rowing Team traveled to Melbourne, Florida to compete in the Southern Sprints Indoor Rowing Championships, held in the gymnasium of the Florida Institute of Technology. Competing on machines used by rowers throughout the world, our team competed alongside rowers representing high school teams from the state of Florida.

Our team fared well with many personal records being set over the 2000 meter distance. Of special note, Junior Isabel Hauber placed 1st out of a field of 43 competitors in the High School Novice Women's Event, bringing home the team's first Southern Sprints gold medal in a number of years. Isabel lead the race from start to finish, finishing in a time of 7:54.5, less than two seconds ahead of the 2nd Place finisher. Senior Madyson Melendez also rowed an exciting race in the Varsity Women's Event, as she covered the 2000 meters in a time of 7:53.4, placing 33rd overall in a field of 104.
