Homecoming for Alumni, Students & Families

Welcome back alums.  This is a great time of year for schools across the country as they welcome back alumni during Homecoming activities.  Tampa Catholic will be a busy place this weekend as many activities are planned.  The DiMaggio Golf Classic is taking place this morning at the beautiful TPC Golf Course in Lutz.  This annual event is the big fundraiser for our athletic department.  After a round of golf many will be heading to The Crusader Castle for a tailgate meal provided by Carrabba’s.  From The Castle head to Crusader Field to watch the Crusaders play Belleview in football action.  Several classes are also holding reunions this weekend, so as you can see there are many events going on for not only our alums but for all the TC faithful.  I hope all of you have a great time at any or all of these events.

SWIM: Our swim team swam in the district meet this past Saturday and several of our swimmers are advancing to the regional in Sarasota this Saturday.  Christin Rockway won the 200 IM and the 500 Free in pool setting record time.  She actually broke her own records in both events.  Lauren Conway will advance in the 200 IM and the 100 Fly that she won.  Jona Christensen advances in the 100 Back.  Joining Christin and Lauren in the 200 Medley Relay will be Anna Sanderson and Maureen Mooney.  Natili Shaver will join Christin, Lauren, and Maureen in the 200 Free Relay.  Good luck to all our swimmers.  ON to State.  Congratulations to all of our swimmers and coach Ben Felts.

GOLF: Our boys golf team of Dylan Sanchez, Peter Gonzalez, John Figura, Joey Palus, and Layton Wilkinson finished 2nd in the district tournament and advanced to the Regional this past Monday at Carrollwood Country Club.  Lizzie Pappas also qualified for the regional as an individual.  Unfortunately, none of our golfers advanced to the State.  As you can imagine getting to State in any sport in Florida is extremely difficult, but the future looks bright for our golfers.  Congratulations to all of them and their coaches David Frederick and Russell Spicola.

CROSS COUNTRY: Our runners competed in the district race this past Wednesday at Al Lopez Park.  I can’t give you any results as this blog is being written before the race.

VOLLEYBALL: Our volleyball season ended in the district semifinal against Berkeley Prep.  Our girls jumped out to a 2-0 lead in games and were primed for the big upset, but Berkeley came back winning the final 3 games to end our season.  Congratulations to the team and Coach Morgan Toney on finishing with an 18-8 record.

CREW: Our rowers continue to work hard during these fall months.  They have several regattas coming up that we will let you know about in upcoming blogs.

FOOTBALL: Our red hot football team plays this evening against a very good Belleville team in the Homecoming game.  We have won 5 games in a row, 3 by shutout and currently have a 6-2 record.  Belleville tonight and Jesuit next Friday will bring an end to the regular season but we have an excellent chance to make the playoffs.  Let’s take it one game at a time and play well tonight in our last regular season home game.  At halftime of tonight’s game, we will crown the Homecoming King and Queen.  It always proves to be a memorable evening.  You won’t want to miss it.

I hope you have a great Homecoming weekend.  GO TC!!
