Tryouts for the 2017 Fall Season will be held beginning Wednesday, January 10, 2018. All interested students should meet at the South Building at 3PM dressed in t-shirts, running shorts and running shoes. No previous rowing experience is necessary, although the minimum requirements listed below must be met.
Rowers should be prepared to complete a mile run in the following allotted times:
Returning varsity rowers - Girls 9.5 minutes / Boys 9 minutes
Novice rowers - Girls 10.5 minutes / Boys 10 minutes
All members must also successfully complete a swim test that is comprised of treading water for a period of 5 minutes and successfully donning a lifejacket.
In order to participate in tryouts, FHSAA Sports Physical forms (EL2) and Consent forms (EL3) must be filled out completely and on file with the office of the Athletic Director before the 16th. Forms can be found on the Tampa Catholic website. In addition, the FHSAA requires that all student athletes complete an online course titled "Concussion in Sports". The free course is offered at the National Federation of State High School Associations' education website, www.nfhslearn.com. The athlete will have to create an account, select the course "Concussion in Sports" and print out the certificate of completion. This course is mandatory for all FHSAA member school athletes and must be completed before the first day of your sport's practice. The certificate of completion can either be turned in to your sport's coach or to the athletic office in the Crusader Gymnasium.
