All Things Happening With TC Sports

Boys Soccer:  Tonight our boys’ soccer team will be playing for the district championship here at TC at 7:00 against Berkeley Prep.  The team defeated CCC on Wednesday 1-0 to advance to the championship.  Win or lose tonight the team will advance to the regional quarterfinal match next Thursday, Feb. 2.  Win and we will host next Thursday.

Cheerleading: Our competitive cheer team will be competing in the state championships this Saturday in Gainseville.  The championships are being held at the University of Florida in the Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center 205 Gale Lemerand Dr. Gainesville, FL 32611.  Good luck to our girls as they try to bring home the state title.

You can watch it live on-line at the NFHS Network thoughout the weekend, with a highlights recap being provided later on by Spectrum Sports (TV only).

Girls Basketball: Our girls’ basketball team completed the regular season on Wed. with a win over CCC to finish at 23-2 on the season.  We will host the district tournament here next week in The Castle.  Our girls are the #1 seed in the tournament and will play next Thursday at 7:30 as they begin their quest for a state championship.

Boys Basketball: Our boys team has their final district game this evening here in The Castle against Brooks Debartolo a team we defeated earlier this year 72-71.  It should be a great game.  7:30 is the start following the JV game at 6:00.

Last week on Martin Luther King Day the team participated in their annual Tampa HomeMakers service project delivering furniture to families less fortunate.  This was the 6th year the team has done this and we are always touched by the experience.  I was especially touched this year by a little boy who when he got 3 new books acted as if he had received the greatest thing in his life and maybe those books were the greatest thing he had ever received.  It brought tears to my eyes and hopefully our players left with a much greater appreciation of what they have.

Spring Sports: Spring sports are getting started with practice and more to come as their seasons start in a few weeks.
