BOYS BASKETBALL: The boys’ basketball team will be playing in the district championship game tonight at CCC against Berkeley Prep. Game time is scheduled for 7:00. The team currently is 20-5 and has been ranked #1 in the Tampa Bay area for the entire season. By virtue of the team’s win on Wednesday in the semifinals over Brooks DeBartolo 84-69 the team will advance to next week’s regional quarterfinal Feb. 16 regardless of the outcome of tonight’s game, but the team is looking for its 2nd consecutive district championship and its 24th consecutive district win. Kevin Knox sits at 7 points away from setting the all-time scoring record in Hillsborough County. He was recently selected as one of 10 finalists for National Player of the Year. He has been selected to play in the McDonald’s All-American game and the Jordan Brand Classic game. These are great honors not only for Kevin but for all of his teammates, coaches, and entire TC family that has been a part of his accomplishments.
GIRLS BASKETBALL: The girls team has had a fantastic season. They were 25-2 heading into the regional quarterfinal game against St. John Neumann last night. I am writing this before that game so check social media to see how the game played out.
BOYS SOCCER: The boys’ soccer team had another great run in the state playoffs as they advance to the regional semifinal where they lost to Berkeley Prep. It was a rather young team and good things are in store next year for this group.
SPRING SPORTS: All the spring sports are kicking into gear and more will be written about them as their seasons get into full gear.
We appreciate your support of all of our teams. Please consider helping us out with working the gate and/or the concession stand for the spring sports. We are finding ourselves rather short with volunteers. You can sign up on the TC website through the sign-up genius. It’s a great way to get those service hours that you might need, plus it is a great help to us. Remember it takes all of us to keep the boat rising. Go TC.
