Dec 14 I had the opportunity on Tuesday of this week to present the student/athletes of the month award to 3 of our outstanding student/athletes. Normally we have a male and a female recipient each month for this award but in November 3 young ladies all qualified for the state championships in their respective sports so we thought it necessary for us to recognize all 3 of these outstanding student/athletes. They are: Olivia Ramsey: Olivia is on our cross country team. During the regional race in Lakeland Olivia crossed the finish line and collapsed. She had given everything that she had in that race and it was good enough to qualify her for the state meet. It was a great performance. Olivia has a 3.9 GPA. Lauren Conway: Lauren is on our swim team. She swam the best races of her life in the state meet beating her own personal records. Lauren has a 4.12 GPA. Christin Rockway: Christin is also on our swim team. Not only did she qualify for the state meet, but she won 2 state championships. She is one of the top swimmers in the country. She has a 4.58 GPA. We are so proud of these three young ladies. They are the definition of being a true student/athlete and are an inspiration to all of us. Tournaments During Christmas Break Two of our teams will be participating in prestigious tournament over the Christmas break. Our girls’basketball team, currently with an 8-1 record, will travel to Disney World for a tournament the week after Christmas. Our boys’ basketball team, currently undefeated at 6-0, will play in a showcase event at Tampa Prep on Dec. 21-23, and then will take to the sky and travel to Brooklyn, NY to play in the 49th Annual Monsignor King Basketball Classic against some of the top teams from NYC on Dec. 27-31. It should be great challenges for both of our basketball teams. I want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Spread the Christmas spirit in all that you do. GO TC!!
