Apr 15 Tampa Catholic has always been very proud of the student athletes that have gone on to participate at the college level. We have really been blessed with some outstanding student/athletes over the years and this year has been no different. Yesterday we celebrated several of our students who have made commitments to colleges around the country and will be representing all of us at the next level. Jared Cenal baseball Creighton University Omaha, Nebraska Devin Brackin baseball Concordia University Seward, Nebraska Noah Carlson football FL Atlantic University Boca Raton, Florida Dominique Eule basketball Southwestern College Winfield, Kansas Abby Zimroth volleyball UCF Orlando, Florida We wish all of our senior athletes who will be taking their talents to the next level the best of luck. SOFTBALL: Our softball team had a great win in the district semifinal over Berkeley Prep. Heading into the last inning we trailed 5-4, but with a ‘never say die’ attitude our girls scored 2 in the bottom of the 7th to win 6-5. It was a great comeback as we trailed for the entire game. The district championship game was held last night. We played AHN, a team that has beaten us twice during the regular season. This is being written before that game took place so hopefully as you read this we will be district champs. Win or lose that game our team will advance to the regional semifinal game next Thursday, April 21. If we are district champs we will host and if we are district runner-up we will be on the road. BASEBALL: Our baseball team concluded the regular season last night with a home game against East Lake. The district tournament is next week at Berkeley Prep. We play Tuesday, April 19 against Brooks DeBartolo. Game time is 4:30. Semifinals are Wed., April 20, with the championship game next Friday. CREW: Several of our rowers will be heading to Sarasota this Saturday for the FSRA Sculling Championships. The regatta will be held at Nathan Benderson Park. Directions can be found on the TC website. TRACK & FIELD: The track team is preparing for the district track meet. It will be held next Thursday, April 21 at Berkeley Prep. Good luck to all of our athletes that are still competing. District playoffs are an exciting time. This is where all the hard work pays off. Continue to support our athletes as I know you do. Remember we are all involved in developing Crusader Champions, on the field of play, in the classroom, and in the community. Go Crusaders!
