State Championship Game & Spring Sports

STATE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

It has been a hectic last 3 weeks with the success of our basketball team, and I don’t know how I’m finding the time but I am to write a short blog.  Our boys will be playing in the State Championship game tomorrow morning at 10:00 in the Lakeland Center.   We like to think of it as ‘Breakfast in Lakeland’.  We hope to see a lot of you over there.  This is back to back trips for the team as last year we lost to the eventual state champion Jacksonville Boles in the semifinal game.  Tomorrow’s opponent is Calvary Christian from Ft. Lauderdale.  They will undoubtedly be the tallest team that we have face all year as they have a 7’, 6’10”, and 6’8” players.  One of their players has signed a college scholarship with Butler and another has signed with USC.  It should prove to be a great challenge for our team.

SPRING SPORTS

Our spring sports of softball, baseball, boys track, girls track, boys crew, girls crew, boys lacrosse, women’s lacrosse, boys tennis, and girls tennis are all in their seasons now.  As you can see with 10 varsity teams competing in the spring there are a lot of student/athletes that are putting in on the line every day representing TC.  They all should be commended and hopefully you will show them that when you attend their events.  You can always find the schedules on the TC website by clicking on the athletic calendar.

As our boys’ basketball team takes to the court tomorrow trying to win a state championship I have told the team that winning a championship is one thing but what is much more important is whether or not you are a champion.  Being a champion is something that takes place throughout a season and throughout a life.  It has nothing to do with one game.  One game can win a championship, but one game does not define you as a champion.  That is already determined by what you have done leading up to that game and what you do after that game.  We want all of our student/athletes to be champions in life and they all can be whether they win a championship or not.  Be a champion on the field of play, in the classroom, and in the community.  Thanks for your support.
