Tampa Catholic students are expected to continue developing their literacy skills over the Summer in preparation for their upcoming English coursework and ACT/SAT tests. For this reason, each English course has a required Summer Enrichment assignment emphasizing a specific focus on reading or writing, depending on course level.
Freshman & Sophomores: These grade levels will focus on reading comprehension for their Summer assignments which will culminate in direct writing instruction from their teachers, resulting in Summative projects, discussions, and essays during the first few weeks of the semester.
Juniors & Seniors: These grade levels will focus on further developing the writing skills gained in the lower grades for their Summer assignments, which will include reading and journal responses to predetermined prompts, current events, and personal reflections. This assignment will culminate in Summative projects, discussions, and essays during the first few weeks of the semester.
