  • Sundays 11:30AM-2:30PM - Community Food Pantry, located at 13115 South Village Drive,Tampa, FL 33618 - With school back in session, their biggest need is for Sunday afternoon volunteers to serve clients from 11:30am – 2:30pm. Here is the sign up link that lists up-to-date volunteer opportunities. Students do not have to sign up to volunteer, it just helps them plan better if you sign up in advance.   • Every Saturday at Helping Hands Ministry - Volunteers meet every Saturday at 10:00 am at the Sacred Heart Campus cafeteria, which is located at 3515 N. Florida Avenue, to help prepare hot/cold meals which are then served with hospitality to men, women and families at St. Peter Claver Church, which is located at 1203 N. Nebraska Avenue. Volunteer hours range from two to four hours (approximate):10:00 am to 12:00 pm - meal preparation at Sacred Heart Campus cafeteria 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm - for delivery, serving and hospitality at St. Peter Claver Church. If you opt to do both times, please note that you will need to have your own transportation to and from two locations. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Cheryl Cabrera directly at 813-229-1595, during normal church business hours (8:30 am to 4:30 pm, M-F) so that she may coordinate the number of volunteers accordingly. 
  • ReadingPals - (download brochure) is a collaboration between United Way and The Children's Movement in conjunction with local and statewide partners and Carol and Barney Barnett. The goal is to engage caring people across Florida to increase the number of young students who read at grade level. United Way Suncoast - is looking for volunteers to read to children in kindergarten and the first grade once a week throughout the school year. No experience is necessary; once you sign up, you'll receive training and the material you need. Background checks will be performed on all volunteers. You can choose a location that's convenient to your home or workplace and you'll be invited to occasional get-togethers with other ReadingPals.   • Every Monday - Amazing Love Ministry - Feeding the Homeless. Amazing Love Ministries on Columbus and 17th (2801 N 17th Street) serves 150-200 homeless men and women every Monday at 7pm. Volunteers are needed to help in the serving line, hand out water, and with clean up. Volunteers should arrive by 6:30 pm to sign in to serve until 8:30. Students are given 2 hours community service from Amazing Love. Dress casually as the meals are served outdoors. www.amazinglovemin.org. Volunteers may also sign up to provide a pan of food. All food is prepared and provided by individual volunteers, local church groups and local eateries.
