School Profile:

Tampa Catholic High School is located in central Tampa and derives its 720 students from all areas of Hillsborough County and its surrounding counties. Tampa Catholic is the only co-educational Catholic diocesan high school in Hillsborough County. Inspired by the Congregation of Christian Brothers, TC serves a wide diversity of students, both Catholic and non-Catholic. The school is a four year college preparatory school offering Honors (including Advanced Placement & Dual Enrollment), College Prep, and Academic Assistance programs of study. Tampa Catholic students consistently score above state and national averages on SAT and ACT tests with 99% of graduates continuing on to a college or university. Qualified seniors may earn up to 21 college credits through Advanced Placement (AP) and Dual Enrollment courses. Tampa Catholic High School is accredited by AdvancED Worldwide and is a member of the National Catholic Education Association.


Tampa Catholic educates approximately 720 students in grades 9 through 12 with an average class size of 24 students and a student/teacher ratio of 11:1.

There are several criteria that are used to determine acceptance to Tampa Catholic High School. Students are evaluated as individuals to determine if they would meet with success in Tampa Catholic’s academically challenging college preparatory program. This evaluation process is based on past academic performance, teacher recommendations, student responses to essay questions, as well as the applicant’s performance on the entrance exam (High School Placement Test/HSPT).  No student is excluded because of race, religion, gender, or ethnic background.

Completing the Online Application  allows you to register your son or daughter for the selected entrance exam date and allows you to submit the $50.00 (non-refundable) application fee. It is extremely important that you provide an accurate and active email address when applying as we will use this method to communicate your application status.  Use the link above to complete an online application and select a date to take the entrance exam.  You will be provided a confirmation and scheduled test reminder prior to the selected entrance exam date.  Available dates are as follows:


First Admissions Test:   November 14, 2015 - 8:00-11:30 am
(NOTE:  Students wishing to compete for academic scholarships must take the November 14th admissions test.)


Other Admissions Tests:   December 12, 2015 --- January 16, 2016 --- March 12, 2016

Crusader For A Day  (Click Here To Register)

“Crusader For a Day” provides your son or daughter the opportunity to become a TC student for a day.  Lead by a team of Student Ambassadors, prospective students participate in academic activities, learn about extracurricular opportunities and Crusader athletics.

We believe that this program is a valuable instrument to help students identify important questions that arise when making their high school selection. This program also serves to encourage students to excel during their eighth grade year as it plays a significant role in their high school course selections.  Please register and select a date to attend at least 2 weeks prior to the event.

Dates available include:  October 1, 8, 15, 29, 2015   Time 8:15 am - 12:40 pm

Open House at Tampa Catholic: (Click Here To Register)

Each year prior to the first entrance exam, Tampa Catholic hosts an evening for prospective students and their families to tour the campus and learn about Tampa Catholic’s academic and student life.

This year’s Open House, will take place on Thursday, Nov. 5, 4:30 – 6:00 pm or 7:00 – 8:30 pm (two sessions-same date). This event is designed for students presently in Grades 8 and their families.  After a brief introduction, visitors are separated into smaller groups for a tour of the campus. Guided by students, each group will learn about academic departments, extracurricular activities and athletics. Current students speak at these tour stops, thus giving visitors an image of the school from a student’s perspective.  To assist in planning for this event, we ask you to register prior to attending. 
The Open House is the best way for families to view the school. Individual tours can also be arranged.  To schedule an appointment for a tour, please contact Sherry Copestick, Director of Enrollment at 813.870.0860 ext. 232.

Notification of Acceptance:

Students taking the November or December entrance exam will receive a letter of notification (admissions status) from Tampa Catholic via email mid-February.  Students taking the January or March entrance exam will receive notification by May 1st. 

Enrollment Health Requirements: Incoming students are required to present a Florida Certification of Immunizations (State of Florida - DH Form 680) and School Entry Health Exam (State of Florida - DH Form 3040). State of Florida Forms DH680 and DH3040 are only available from a doctor’s office.

Accepting Admission - Registration: When an applicant receives an acceptance letter to Tampa Catholic High School, he or she will also receive instructions for online enrollment, as well as tuition and financial aid information. Typically, the online enrollment form needs to be completed and submitted by mid-March. Exact deadline dates for enrollment and financial aid applications will be provided in the acceptance notification materials.

Financial Aid:  Tuition assistance (need based financial aid) is available to those families who cannot afford the full amount of tuition.  Families must apply by completing the financial application with FACTS Grant Aid Assessment (FGAA) at Tampa Catholic also participates in the state funded Step Up For Students ( and McKay ( scholarship programs.  Additional tuition assistance options and application deadline information will be provided at time of registration.

Parent Volunteer Requirement

Each family with a student enrolled at Tampa Catholic is required to volunteer ten (10) service hours annually. The service hours must be completed, or scheduled for an end-of-the-year event no later than the last week in April and each family’s service hour card must be turned in to the Main office on or before that time. Otherwise in lieu of performing service hours a family may choose to pay $200 for the hours and volunteer no time.  For more information on our Parent Volunteer program please click here.
