President’s Volunteer Service Award

In 2002, during President Bush’s State of the Union address, he challenged all Americans to heed the call to service to help make a difference in our communities.

The following year President Bush created the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation with its goal to recognize the contributions volunteers provide to our Nation.  The council created the President’s Volunteer Service Award as a means of recognizing, thanking and honoring Americans, of all ages, who have made a commitment to their community by giving of their time in helping others.

Twenty-nine TC students were recognized for their Service commitment during the 2007-2008 school year at the Senior Farewell Assembly.

There are three levels of achievement:

            1. For giving at least 100 hours   bronze award.

            2. For giving 175 – 249 hours – silver award.

            3. For giving 250 hours or more – Gold award.

Each recipient received an official President’s Volunteer Service Award pin, a personalized certificate of achievement, a note of congratulations from the President of the United States, and a letter from the President’s council on Service and Civic Participation.
