ONE DAY WITHOUT SHOES
February 17th, 2012
On February 21, FAT TUESDAY, Tampa Catholic will be celebrating with an enormous party in the cafeteria. We will be going "One Day Without Shoes" in honor of a child who doesn't have any shoes to wear!
When the students enter the cafeteria on February 21, they will remove their shoes and donate them to two local Catholic missions. Then on Ash Wednesday, February 22, students will come to school wearing TOMS www.TOMS/our-movement. They will be allowed to wear only CLASSIC, BLACK, TOMS WITH WHITE SOLES. The students will be allowed to wear their TOMS shoes for 40 days and 40 nights, during Lent.
The sophomore class has been working on a "Pay It Forward" project since October. TOMS provides shoes for children who do not have any......One For One. For every TOMS shoe that is purchased, TOMS Company donates a pair of shoes to a child without for LIFE! Yes, they donate shoes for a child for life. As the child grows, they continue
to provide shoes for that child. Our goal is to be able to have as many students and teachers as possible participate in this project. We have the potential to have TOMS donate 400-700 pairs of shoes if everyone participates!
We pray that everyone supports the sophomores and participates -- helping us mirror the teachings and mission of Blessed Edmund Rice and the Christian Brothers.
