Coach Henriquez Steps Down as Head Football Coach
December 10th, 2012

Tampa Catholic High School Principal Thomas Reidy announced this morning that Bob Henriquez is leaving his position as head football coach at the school, effective immediately. Henriquez cited the need to devote his time to his new position as Hillsborough County Property Appraiser as the reason for his resignation.
Henriquez, who was elected as Hillsborough County Property Appraiser in November, coached at the school for 17 seasons. He served two stints as the Crusaders’ head coach and leaves with an overall record of 128-71. Henriquez coached the Crusaders to 13 playoff appearances in 16 years, won 7 district titles and twice advanced to the state championship game. There are numerous Henriquez-coached student/athletes that have gone on to play in college and the NFL.
Henriquez, a Class of 1982 alumnus of Tampa Catholic, excelled at both footbal and track and attended college at Princeton University. No stranger to elected office, he served in the Florida House of Representatives from 1998-2006. Tampa Catholic has honored Henriquez as member of their athletic hall of fame and bestowed the school’s highest honor on him by inducting him into Tampa Catholic’s Order of the Crusader Templar in 2011.
Principal Reidy wished Henriquez well. “While we are sad to lose him as a coach at Tampa Catholic we are proud that Bob is now serving the citizens of Hillsborough County as our Property Appraiser. He is an outstanding example of how Tampa Catholic alumni are involved in their communities throughout the world, living our ideals and traditions of Faith, Excellence & Family."
