COURSE SELECTION INFORMATION
FOR THE 2010-2011 SCHOOL YEAR

Planning for the 2010-2011 school year!!!!! School Counselors will visiting English classes during the week of March 8-12 to discuss course selection for the 2010-2011 school year.  Counselors will be distributing course selection sheets and highlighting prerequisites for various courses. For your convenience, the Course Catalog may be accessed through the Tampa Catholic website.  When choosing electives, please note the “Categories” listed under the course title (corresponding key in front section of the catalog).  Some electives meet the requirements of the Bright Futures Scholarship program and/or the Florida State University System.  Additional clarification may be obtained by contacting your student’s Guidance Counselor.  As a reminder, in the event that a course has more students registered than can be properly taught, students will be selected based on GPA and students with the highest GPA will be admitted first.   Please take time with your student to review the catalog and assist them in making selections for next year.  All selection sheets are due to the Guidance Department by March 19.

What is a Dual Enrollment Class?

Dual Enrollment (DE) courses are college level courses sanctioned by the State
of Florida and the State University System.  Students earn high school
credits toward high school graduation requirements and at the same time earn college credit toward a degree in the State of Florida University system.  Some private and out-of-state colleges will accept credit for these courses as transfer credits.  They do so at their own discretion.  These courses are administered by Hillsborough Community College (HCC).  The instructors must have a Master’s Degree in their field of study and be approved by HCC as adjunct professors.  The course content and syllabus must also be approved by HCC.
