Proceeds Benefit the Lights On! Campaign to Light Baseball and Softball Fields

Former Crusader baseball coach Peter J. Mulry has written a book titled Conversations in the Seventh Inning of My Life - Life Skills Through Sports.  The book features interviews with thirty of Coach Mulry's former players and how sports influenced them as they moved from TC into their adults lives. Tampa Catholic's Baseball and softball programs have a legacy of sportsmanship and winning unmatched by any other school in our area. In the school's forty-nine year history, the Men's Baseball teams have won nine state titles, with the Lady Crusader Softball program adding two state championships. Tampa Catholic is raising $250,000 to install state of the art Musco lighting for the baseball and softball fields through the Lights On! campaign. To learn more or to donate go here.

TC Announces New Baseball Coach

Tampa Catholic High School Principal Thomas J. Reidy has announced the hiring of Ty Griffin as the school’s head baseball coach. In announcing the decision the Tampa Catholic principal cited Griffin’s legacy of achievement as a huge plus for the new coach. “In welcoming Coach Griffin to the Tampa Catholic family we are excited about the great knowledge and passion for the game of baseball he brings to our student athletes.”    
Griffin who spent most of his youth in Tampa brings to the Crusaders a strong background as a player and coach. He played baseball locally at King High School and in college at Georgia Tech University. He was a member of the USA Baseball team that won a gold medal at the 1988 Olympics and the Chicago Cubs chose him in the first round of the 1988 MLB draft. Griffin played for eight years in the pros and for the past 5 years has served as an assistant coach at King High School. 
 
Griffin commented that he was “…truly honored to have this opportunity to coach at a program with so much baseball history and tradition.  I am excited to bring my passion and knowledge of the game to Tampa Catholic players and Alumni.  I look forward to partnering with the administration and supporters to continue to move Tampa Catholic baseball forward.  The quest for excellence starts now."
 
Griffin will lead a Tampa Catholic baseball program that has won nine state championships in the school’s forty-nine year history.
